Kisii School Partnerships
Connecting schools with resources and expertise to inspire the next generation.
Overview
Date: 10 February 2025
Location: Kisii Town and surrounding schools
Partners: Kisii County Education Board, Teachers’ Association, Friends of Kisii Library
This initiative brings together educators, parents and private sector partners to enhance learning environments in Kisii. In February 2025, Sev’s team visited several schools to assess needs, deliver equipment and plan long‑term collaborations.
What Happened
Over the course of a week, volunteers refurbished science labs, installed new desks and donated books. Teachers participated in a workshop on integrating technology in the classroom. Students attended a career expo where professionals from logistics, manufacturing and health shared stories and answered questions. The partnership also launched a mentorship programme pairing high school students with university students from Nairobi.
Why It Matters
Quality education is a prerequisite for youth employment and economic growth. By investing in schools, we help address the skills gap and prepare students for careers in industries that drive Kenya’s economy. The initiative also fosters cultural exchange between urban professionals and rural students, expanding horizons and inspiring confidence.
Outcome & What’s Next
The refurbished facilities have improved learning conditions for over 1,200 students. Teachers report increased enthusiasm for science and technology subjects. The mentorship programme will continue through the year, and plans include establishing a digital library with e‑books and developing parent–teacher co‑operatives to sustain improvements. Sev’s team is exploring expansion to more schools in remote wards.
