Education

Strengthening learning from early childhood through vocational training.

The Challenge

Access to quality education remains uneven. Many schools in Kitutu Chache lack modern classrooms, science labs and digital tools. Teachers are dedicated but under‑resourced, and dropout rates rise when families can’t afford fees. As the world of work evolves, students need both foundational knowledge and practical skills.

What I’m Hearing

Parents and teachers ask for safer classrooms, more books and better training resources. Young people want to learn coding, robotics and agriculture but have limited access. Employers tell us that graduates often lack essential soft skills like teamwork and problem solving. Community elders emphasise the need to preserve local culture and language alongside modern education.

What Good Looks Like

Innovative schools across Kenya show the way: integrating STEM education with arts, sports and life skills. Partnerships with the private sector bring equipment and internships. Community‑led fundraising builds libraries and classrooms. When teachers are supported with continuous professional development and digital tools, student outcomes improve dramatically.

My Contributions So Far

Sev has partnered with primary and secondary schools in Kisii to refurbish classrooms, supply science equipment and sponsor teacher training. Through the Kisii School Partnerships programme, he links schools with Nairobi technology firms to donate computers and provide mentorship. He funds scholarships for bright students from low‑income families and organises holiday boot camps focusing on coding, agritech and business basics. By bridging business expertise and local needs, Sev helps build a generation ready for the opportunities ahead.
